​The Behind the Statistics series chronicles how gun violence has negatively impacted people in the DMV area. We always use statistics to support our point about passing more gun control legislation, but we don't realize that there are people behind those numbers. This series was important to create so that people can truly see how gun violence can impact individuals and families. This series is an adaptation of the written accounts from people who lost their loved ones to gun violence collected from Marylanders to Prevent Gun Violence, another local gun violence prevention organization. In 2020, Marylanders to Prevent Gun Violence and Stand Up collaborated to create the Behind the Statistics documentary and present the episodes at a virtual watch party.
